Computer coding near you!

Got a great idea for an app but don’t know how to execute it? Want to join the entrepreneurial hall of fame with the likes of Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg? Or just want to ready yourself for the workforce of the future? You need computer coding, and these workshops want to teach it to you. We’ve found four young computer coding intitiatives that offer learning workshops in every state.



TECHNOLOchicas have built their community around providing Latina women and girls with the opportunities to learn job-ready computer coding skills. Become a part of their community to attend free workshops, summits and events. You’ll get to meet like-minded Latina women looking to make a difference in the tech world, which is a bonus too.

Black Girls Code

Kimberly Bryant founded Black Girls Code after feeling culturally isolated in her college Engineering classes. Black Girls Code aims to equip these young women with the skills for computer coding, finding jobs and disrupting the industry. They also offer a number of scholarships for their courses to help with any financial challenges.

Are you young, interested in computer coding, and living just about anywhere in the world? CoderDojo is the workshop program for you (and everyone you know). Coderdojo hooks you up with free (yes, free!) classes to learn programs like Scratch, Javascript, HTML and more. If you can’t attend a dojo, there are bonus e-learning tools on their website too.

ID Tech

Got a little more time and cash up your sleeve? Try ID Tech’s summer camps, held at over 150 prestigious college and university campuses across the country. You’ll learn your choice of programming, robotics, game design, development and more. If you can’t make it to campus? Easy – sign up for one of their Tech Rocket online courses instead! Make friends, and spend your summer learning valuable skills.
